WHEN: 12 – 13 October, 2019. WHERE: Various buildings around Brisbane. Discover what’s usually behind closed doors at the 2019 Brisbane Open House on Saturday, 12th and Sunday 13th October. This FREE public festival celebrates Brisbane’s architecture and offers visitors unique peeks behind-the-scenes, and access to buildings and architectural spaces across the city, that normally can’t be accessed. This is the 10th Anniversary of Brisbane Open House so it’s going to be a massive birthday celebration.  The 2019 Brisbane Open House program is due to be launched on 10 September.  The program will be cram-packed with details of the buildings that you can visit, fabulous photography competition instructions, disabled access details and other great information. Walks & Lookouts in Brisbane

The West End is not only centrally located to the CBD, really cool bars and restaurants and the South Bank precinct,  it’s also a great place to base yourself to make the most of Brisbane’s great outdoors.  You can walk, stroll, or if feeling inspired, run along some of the many trails and scenic walks around the city. Best of all you’ll get to enjoy fresh air, beautiful scenery and they’re FREE. Here are a few suggestions we think you might enjoy: 1 – Kangaroo Point & City Botanic Gardens It’s a 35 minute walk along the South Bank to the Kangaroo Point Cliffs and lookout.  Alternatively you can drive 8 minutes and then park your car at the top of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs and walk down the stairs to the base and follow the winding boardwalk to your right along the riverfront towards Thornton Street Ferry Terminal. From here, cross the road to walk over the Story Bridge. Brisbane Writers Festival 2019

Brisbane Festival

Queensland Ballet’s Romeo & Juliet at QPAC

Have you ever heard or said that famous line: ‘Romeo, Romeo where for art thou Romeo?’ Taken from the most famous love story of all time, Sir Kenneth MacMillan presents the Queensland Ballet’s Romeo & Juliet in all its glory at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s (QPAC) Lyric Theatre in the West End, Brisbane from 28 August to 7 September 2019. In this ballet rendition of the play by William Shakespeare, Kenneth MacMillan’s adaptation will bring the streets of Verona alive.  The production will engage and delight audiences with a recreation that will include spectacular and colourful costumes, incredibly styled sets and amazing lighting. Kenneth’s choreography will capture the intense romance, passion and tragedy of this play; matched by the skill, elegance and strength of the Queensland Ballet dancers.
